Granby Massachusetts
The town of Granby, now home to the prestigious MacDuffie School, formerly of Springfield, is a rural suburban town on the outskirts of the Holyoke metropolitan area, Settled around 1727, the town is dominated in the north by the Holyoke Mountain Range. Granby retains it's original meeting house and green, now known as the common, as well as a fine neoclassical library, town hall, and a good stock of Greek Revival houses.
The common is the home to the annual All Town Tag and Craft Fair in May, band concerts in summer, and fall happenings. Dufresne Park, a large town owned conservation and recreation area, with fishing pond and hiking trails, hosts many events including Granby's Charter Day celebration in June, and several regional horse and dog shows . |
