Ames Accessible Trail At Alderbrook Meadows Wildlife Sanctuary

Managed by the Mount Grace Land Trust and designed to meet the U.S Forest Service's standards for accessibility, the Ames Nature Trail in Northfield allows people of all ages and abilities to immerse themselves in nature (see website for accessibility details). The trail route winds through a stunning grove of white pines, offering signage about the historic Native presence on the land, and culminating at an observation deck overlooking a beautiful hidden pond.

Manhan Rail Trail

The Manhan Rail Trail is a rails-to-trails paved recreational trail and non-motorized commuter route located in the lower Connecticut River Valley of Massachusetts in the town of Easthampton.

Northfield Golf Course

Well-manicured, historic 9 hole course surrounded by scenic views and hiking trails. The club house offers a relaxing gathering place for golfers and the public, great local draft brews, a patio, and fun events throughout the season.

Northfield Mountain Recreation And Environmental Center

Four season recreation facility located on both sides of Route 63 in Northfield. Cross-country skiing, hiking and mountain biking on 25 miles of trails. Interpretive riverboat cruises (see listing), public and school recreation and environmental programs, plus a picnic area, rentable pavilion, and camping for boaters.

Northfield Riverboat Cruises

Enjoy a relaxing 90-minute interpretive cruise on the Connecticut River. The Heritage Riverboat operating schedule is starts mid-June and ends mid-October, with cruises departing from the Riverview picnic area dock in Northfield, MA. Also offering private charters for groups, family outings or special events.

Summit House Skinner Mountain

Summit House Skinner Mountain offer breathtaking views of the Connecticut River Valley as you hike on its many trails. Reach the summit of Mt. Holyoke by road or hiking trail. If hiking is not your thing. you can also go biking, horseback riding, and hang gliding. In the winter you can snow mobile, cross country ski, and snow shoe.

Quabbin Reservoir

The Quabbin Reservoir is the largest inland body of water in Massachusetts, and is the primary water supply for Boston. The reservoir supports 27 species of fish, 17 of which are sought by fishermen, such as lake trout, landlocked salmon, smallmouth bass, and white perch. According to records, anglers can catch 50 - 100 of these large, white perch in a good day.

Chesterfield Gorge

Chesterfield Gorge features 70-foot-high walls carved by centuries of rushing water from the East Branch of the Westfield River. On your hike of the half-mile trail along the cliff tops, you'll take in breathtaking views of the gorge, the river, and the surrounding forest, which nurtures hemlock, ash, and oak, and is home to bears, bobcats, and turkeys.

Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary

Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary spans Easthampton and Northampton, and its diverse terrain attracts a variety of wildlife that you may see on its 4 miles of hiking trails. There is also a thriving population of wildflowers, due to the sanctuary's rich, loamy soil. Home to some of the first bald eagles reintroduced into New England.

Mount Tom State Reservation

Mount Tom features wonderful views of the Pioneer Valley in west-central Massachusetts. The reservation is a great place to go bird watching, hiking, and cross country skiing. Many people go fishing at Mount Tom State Reservation as well.

Norwottuck Rail Trail

Ride the Norwottuck Rail Trail as you enjoy scenic views. The trail is great for all abilities due to the level path. The trail is open to walking, rollerblading, and horseback riding.

Mt. Sugarloaf State Reservation

The summit of Mt. Sugarloaf offers amazing views of the Connecticut River Valley. Drive to the summit or hike a challenging trail to the top, where you can use picnic facilities and access over 20 miles of hiking and biking trails.

The Notch/Mt. Holyoke Reservation

Mount Holyoke Range State Park is over 3,000 acres and features a 7-mile mountain ridge line. The Park also include more than 30 miles of blazed trails that go through streams, wetlands, woods, and thickets. Hiking and Mountain Biking are very popular activities here.
